In 2005, Borobazar College was established in Bijni Town. Formerly known as Reimalie Academy Degree College, it was operated by the Reimalie Society, founded by Mr. Rajen Basumatary as a pioneering venture. However, in 2014, the college relocated from Bijni Town to Borobazar, situated 15 km north of its previous location.
In 2012, Reimalie Degree College gained affiliation with Gauhati University. Following its move to Borobazar, the college withdrawn its affiliation with Gauhati University and obtained affiliation with Bodoland University in 2015. A significant milestone occurred in the college’s history with the signing of an agreement between President Mr. Prabin Kumar Brahma of Borobazar Welfare Committee and Chairman Mr. Rajen Basumatary of Reimalie Society. This agreement placed the college under the guardianship of Borobazar Welfare Committee, a move aimed at serving the interests of the local community.

Subsequently, a new Governing Body was established, with Mr. Pamesh Basumatary as president. To better reflect its new identity and serve the local populace, Reimalie Academy Degree College was formally renamed Borobazar College through an affidavit in 2016.
